Ho ho ho

:( Christmas at our house is over.

:) Christmas at my parents house is yet to come.

Brian's parents left today. We had a nice time with them. Did all of the usual Christams stuff:
  • Skating with Santa
  • Looking at Christmas lights
  • Going to Church on Christmas Eve
  • Eating food, food, and more food
  • Opening present, presents, and more presents
  • Taking pictures, pictures, and more pictures (see my albums on snapfish)
  • After Christmas shopping, shopping, and more shopping
Good times. Can't wait for my parents house!

Here are some parting Christmas pictures and also a pic of Jayda's birthday pie. :) We decided to celebrate her bday early so Bri's parents could see her open her gifts. I didn't have a cake so we used one of the Christmas pies instead.

WCCO

Earlier this month I had the unfortunate experience of being on the news (see Erika's blog) and now it seems its Bri's turn. Or at least his FD's turn. Monday at drill they were doing training for ice rescues. Turns out it was news worthy. Kind of neat.

If you go to the link below, you will get to the Channel 4 WCCO TVwebsite and you can read and view the story they did on 12/19/2006 regarding the SBM Fire and Blaine P.D. cold water rescue equipment and capabilities.

What's this? Another first?

I got my first ever Christmas present from Brady yesterday - it was a macaroni necklace that he made for me at daycare. It’s the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. Honestly, I teared up when he gave it to me. Could be my best present ever. :)

I'll post a picture tomorrow...

Another first

Yesterday we had our first object in the toilet incident.

But before I tell my little tale, it will help you understand some of if it if I give you a little Brady fact: The kid loves cars, trucks, buses, airplanes, helicopters, tractors, trains, etc. and he goes through spurts of which one he wants to carry around with him 24/7. Well, for the past week or so he has been carrying around a little toy car that we got for free out of a cereal box. He eats with it, sleeps with it, and goes to the bathroom with it...

So yesterday morning he's in the bathroom doing his business and calls me in because he's done. So I go in there and he tells me he's all done but he's lost his car. I'm like "you dropped it?" (meaning on the floor somewhere) And he says "yeah." So I tell him that its ok and that we'll find it as soon as he's wiped and washed his hands. So we wipe him, flush the toilet, wash hands, and then start our search for the car. I turned the bathroom upside down and couldn't find it anywhere. So I say "Brady, where did you drop it?" And he points to the toilet and says "in there." Good grief. I thought for sure he was making it up since I didn’t hear anything rattle around when I flushed nor did I notice it in the toilet (but to my defense, it was full of poo and hard to see anything), but after another thorough examination of the bathroom, the car that was previously there was definitely not there anymore. I have my fingers crossed that maybe it was small enough to just flow through the pipes. If not, we’re going to have a serious problem on our hands someday. Kids!

Here is the little angel with his beloved car (taken a couple of days before it got flushed)

More parties? Oink oink my good man!

Over the weekend we went to a party at Kim and Chris's and brunch at Bethany and Josh's. Both fiestas were fun and the food was yummy. In fact the brunch food was so yummy I felt it worthy of a picture - see slide show. You'll also see Isaac trying to hug Jayda. She wanted no part of it. :)

Gingerbread Train

We had our first object in the nose incident last night while we were making our gingerbread train. And the worst part of all was that I could have prevented the whole mess if I hadn’t been so camera happy.

Here’s what happened:

We pulled out the gingerbread kit and start unloading all of the pieces: candy, frosting, gingerbread, etc. and the kids go crazy over the candy and are shoveling it in their mouths at warp speed. Of course, I think this is hilarious, so I go and grab my camera. Next thing I know Brady is saying how good the candy is and is pointing to his nose. I’m like what? Why are you pointing to your nose? And he tells me his nose likes the candy too. What inspires kids to stick things up their nose??? So first we try and have him blow it out, but it wasn’t budging, so then I go and grab the suction bulb to try and suck out the candy but stupid me just ended up shoving the little ball further up his nostril. It was at the point of no return, so we just let it go. Brian was convinced that it would dissolve on its own and sure enough, he ended up having orange colored snot dripping out of his nose for the rest of the night. When we checked his nose after bath is was gone. Whew survived another one. At least it wasn’t a Lego…

My how time flies

I have been subjecting Brady and Jayda to the "Chair Shot" ever since Jayda was born. I'm glad that I did/do. I love seeing how much they have changed over time.

O christmas parties o christmas parties, you've made me gain 5 pounds

Goodie days and Christmas parties. Gotta love the adverse side effects. You would think since I hate gaining weight that I would be able to restrain myself and not eat so much but no.

Friday night we had Brian's work Christmas party at the Chanhassen Dinner Theater. We saw Grease. It was so good. Then Saturday night we had Brian's SBM Christmas party. The entertainment was a stand up comic, Alex Jackson. He was good too (surprisingly so).

Here we are right before the SBM Christmas party. (You could never tell, but Brian and I were mad at each other in that picture. Actually he was mad at me for not being ready on time, so I got mad at him for being mad at me etc. etc.)

Oh what fun it is to unravel anything made out of paper!

Last night I decided to start wrapping presents, and of course, at the sound of presents, Brady and Jayda raced away from the TV to come and "help." I had my back turned for what felt like a millisecond and in that short amount of time they completely destroyed a tube of wrapping paper. Fortunately I had already used over half of it, so it wasn't a total waste. But still, what is it with kids and paper products? Tissue paper, toilet paper, wrapping paper - their sole goal is to unravel or pull all of it out until there is nothing left. And it brings them such joy. To be a kid again...

Aw man really?

What a blow to my ego (thanks Risa):

What American accent do you have?
Your Result: The Inland North

You may think you speak "Standard English straight out of the dictionary" but when you step away from the Great Lakes you get asked annoying questions like "Are you from Wisconsin?" or "Are you from Chicago?" Chances are you call carbonated drinks "pop."

FMSC

Last Thursday I went with my development group at work to participate in Feed My Starving Children. I had no idea what I was getting into. The whole experience was a good one. But as usual, I cried while watching the intro video they show you of starving children all over the world. Made me feel like a bum for taking so much for granted. If you feel like feeling like a bum too, check out their Web site: http://www.fmsc.org/.

And if you just feel like laughing, check out me in my hottie hair net (yeah the picture is blurry, someone doesn't know how to hold the camera still).

O Christmas Tree O Christmas Tree...

So we did the whole decorate for Christmas thing this weekend. And thanks to two helping children it took all weekend too. You would think the prickly pine needles would deter them from taking the ornaments and light strands down...

So that sucked

I had an interview today and pretty much bombed the second half of it. Oh well. Live and learn.
Note to self: Learn how to keep your mouth shut.

Its all fun and games until someone starts barfing

I knew Jayda was sick last night but this morning she seemed like she was feeling better. So when she started to cry I picked her up. Next thing I know she's puking down my back. And to make matters worse, the dog runs through the house at the sound of food (doesn't matter that its regergitated) hitting the floor and immediately starts licking it all up. Then she tried jumping up on me to lick the puke off of my shirt. Disgusting. Poor little Jayda. Poor little me. Poor little dog for not knowing how gross her behavior is.

I hope we all don't get sick now. At least I got to stay home from work.

If only all the worlds problems were this minute

In the past 2 weeks I have acquired 8 new lip glosses. I blame my madness on GAP and Bath & Body Works for having lip glosses located so near the checkouts. How can anyone possibly turn any of these down?
  • VanillaButterscotch
  • ChocolateCherry
  • AppleTart
  • Crazy Carmel Corn
  • Spicy Gingerbread
  • Twisted Peppermint
  • Wickedly HotChocolate
  • Sheer Pink Lip Plumper

Add these to the already large number of lip glosses that I own and I have a mob on my hands. Now I have to delegate myself to using a flavor a day or else I’ll feel bad for being wasteful.

Weekend roundup

Let’s see…

Friday night we went over to Kim and Chris’s for dinner and a movie.

Saturday I played all day with Bethany. We went shopping, had lunch at Olive Garden, saw a movie (Marie Antoinette – very depressing), did more shopping and then went home.

On Saturday we also received a call from the vets about Macey’s bloodwork. Turns out her medicine for her hyperthyroidism is damaging her liver, so we have to take her off of it. Without meds though her thyroid problem is out of control and she starts losing weight and vomiting all of the time. So the vets say an alternate (read thousands of dollars) solution is to remove her thyroid glands. She can either have laser surgery or else go through radiation. Nice. Now we feel like losers for not wanting to pay tons of money to potentially (because she might not make it through surgery or radiation) save her life. Sigh. Poor kitty.

Sunday Erika and Alex came over to play. Erika let me paint her nails blue and green. So pretty. :)

Friday's fun

Took the cat to the vet today. She is old (15), has diabetes, hyperthyroidism, and irritable bowel syndrome. She also has an aversion to using the litter box. Ultra gross I know. Whenever we complain about her litter box issue everyone says "Did you take her to the vet? Maybe its not just behavioral, maybe she has something medically wrong." So I took her to the vet and $258 later they tell me her litter box issue is just behavioral. They also said that her meds need to be switched for all of her other problems. More $$. I cried. Then I cried some more for thinking that for only $100 we could have had her put to sleep. Ugh! Where did that come from??? Money is so evil. Bottom line is I could never put Mae down unless she were truly on death's doorstep. The kids love her too much and she's a saint for putting up with them.

But still $$ doesn't grow on trees so for Christmas this year the kids get Mae as a present. ;)
