Over the weekend

Hotsie totsie around here. It feels so wrong to hide inside when its summertime, even if it is 100 degrees outside. We had plans to go to the Anoka County Fair and to the Minnesota Zoo this weekend and didn't end up doing either. It was just too hot and nothing is that enjoyable when your clothes are sopping with sweat and your hair is plastered to your head. I still feel guilty though, like I wasn't tough enough to muddle through. Oh well. We did end up going over to Mike and Renee's house on Saturday night and here are some of the resulting pics:

Lunch with the ex's

No, not ex's like boy ex's. Lunch with ex-cowokers. Yesterday April and I (current coworker) met Sally and Katie (ex-coworkers) and their 3 kids for lunch at Chili's. It was so nice to see everyone again and go out to eat without having my kids with me! Later on that night we all met back up at April's house.

This is Sally's son Chase. He was soooo funny at the restaurant, again making me that much glader that I was sans kids.
This Sally's daughter Corinne. She is such a happy easy-going baby - almost, but not quite, made me want another one.

Home sick

Normally I don't dread the day care call saying that my kid is running a fever and needs to be picked up, but this wasn't the best week at work to be skipping a day or two to be home with sick kids. Oh well. When life hands you lemons - make lemonade. :) My lemonade came in the form of coloring with the kids. Why draw the line at paper when their faces will work as well? I pray non-toxic on the marker box really means non-toxic if absorbed into the skin. I'm sure it does...

On Saturday we went to the SBM Station 5 picnic. The kids were clingy (as usual) at first but then they loosened up and were all over the place.

Here are a couple of pics of them riding the new horse I bought them too. I was grocery shopping and there it was at the end of one of the isles: a little horse to sit on and it was only $30. I could not not buy it!

Hourly rates

Due to a recent contracting assignment at work, I found out that my company charges $68 an hour for my services. If I were a senior tech writer they would charge $83. I did the math on all of that and decided that I could be very disgruntled for a number of monetary reasons, but then I factored in the amount of time I'm actually at work (less then 40 hrs a week), how much time I actually work at work (way way less then 40 hrs a week) and decided not to be disgruntled after all.

Hillbillish perhaps?

I didn't even realize it, until I started looking back at my pictures, but almost all of the pics I have taken of the kids playing outside show them wearing nothing but diapers. Both of them love playing with the hose/water, so everytime we're outside, they end up soaking wet and the clothes come off. Brian hates that I let them run around like that but honestly, does it really matter? Here are a couple of pics featuring our clothed neighbor and the usual Brady and Jayda look.

Love this guy

I first saw him in National Treasure and decided he was my new favorite guy actor. Then B and I watched Failure to Launch over the weekend and there he was again! I had to find out who he was and crazy enough, he's from Michigan. How bout that?

B went out of his way to send me the link to this sticker and then he called me after he sent it to see if I got it. Boys...

The strap

Here is Brady wearing the dreaded strap. As ugly/geeky as it is, it is so wonderful. Without it, Brady would have never kept his glasses on, which he needs to do so he can see. Poor kid, without glasses his eyes are 20/200, which everyone knows is legally blind. I suppose everyone with poor eyesight could be called legally blind without corrective lenses. However, right now even with corrective lenses his eyesight is 20/100 (still legally blind). After he's been wearing his glasses for a while though, his eyesight should improve. The problem is for 2 1/2 years he hasn't been able to see properly so his brain didn't develop what it needed to in the vision department. Thankfully since he is so young, there is still a good chance (if he keeps his glasses on) that it will fully develop.

So it begins

As usual, I'm the last one to jump on the bandwagon. Blogging feels like such a committment! I think I had fewer reservations about getting married.

Fortunately, if blogging and I don't agree, I can just click "delete this blog" and we're done.
