UP Re-cap

My trip to the yoop started off on the wrong foot but fortunately ended up on the right one.

What should only be a 5 1/2 - 6 hour drive took 7 hours because of a car sick child. There is nothing grosser than a child barfing up McDonalds all over themselves, their car seat, their toys, and their blanket and not having anything other than diaper wipes to clean it all up. I think I'm going to permanently blank the trip up out of my mind forever.

Things improved when we finally got there. It was good to see my parents, brothers, and animals again AND my older brother is finally talking to me again. It only took 4 years. Peace at last. This is the first sibling picture we've had since 2002.

The weather was typical UP weather. On Saturday we built a snowman and then on Monday it was sunny and 55 degrees.

Other highlights were:

  • Thanksgiving dinner (we celebrated it early because none of us are going to be back at Thanksgiving time)
  • Seeing a Red Fox in my parents back yard (he is a frequent visitor)
  • Jogging the craphole roads near my parents house and almost getting killed (honestly; why do people drive so fast up there??? its not like there's anywhere to go and they could at least move over... it wouldn't surprise me if they really wanted to hit me)
  • Playing family games
  • Eating yummy food

The drive home went better. It was nice out so I kept Jayda's window cracked and we had zero incidents on the way back. God bless fresh air.

That's it. Life is back to normal. The next trip we have is when we go to Jackson for Thanksgiving. 10 hours in the car for that one. Can't wait.

Jozie gets the same way and I usually keep her window open for her when we travel. I discovered Dramamine (sp?) on the 12 hour trip home from Levi's house and it is now my constant traveling companion! Why I didn't try it years ago and save us some misery, I will never know!

Is that John?!?! Boy, has he changed over the years! I hardly recognized him! It's nice to hear that you guys are talking again :)

Looks like the UP was nice though... i love the snow man day 1 and day 2. So UP. funny stuff.

WOW! John looks SO different! I am so glad to see that you kids were all home with your parents! Bet they really loved that! How wonderful!

That is miserable to have a carsick child. So far we've been blessed not to have one...let's hope it stays that way!

We're hoping to make it home for Christmas but it costs so much to fly there and I don't wanna drive all that way...we'll see. I know the kids would LOVE to fly and see SNOW!

Glad you had a good time!
