Hourly rates
Due to a recent contracting assignment at work, I found out that my company charges $68 an hour for my services. If I were a senior tech writer they would charge $83. I did the math on all of that and decided that I could be very disgruntled for a number of monetary reasons, but then I factored in the amount of time I'm actually at work (less then 40 hrs a week), how much time I actually work at work (way way less then 40 hrs a week) and decided not to be disgruntled after all.

when i worked hourly at BB, it opened my eyes to how nice salary was. :)
i still toy with the idea of freelancing. but then i remember i'm lazy. I see how much they charge for me at my new company. And they charge the Senior copywriter rate for 2 of my projects at over $120/hour. You're a bargain! LOL.
and i have to charge what i call creative dazing time. i daze out and think of ideas for banner ads for a few hours and BAM... 3 words cost over $500. crazy advertising industry.
Ok, E do the math on that then. If you were paid $120 an hour instead of being salaried, you would make well over 200,000 annually. I know I'm not factoring in the cost of benefits but still... you should be seriously disgruntled. I know you work more than I do. :)
